History

With over 14-years in Mexican restaurant service and management and an enthusiast for Mexican antojitos, Orlando Barajas, jumped at the opportunity when the previous owner, Sra. Alicia wanted to retire from Burlington’s long-standing, Tienda La Victoria. Located in the heart of downtown Burlington, Tienda La Victoria served multiple generations, both Hispanic and non-Hispanic neighbors and visitors from across the Skagit Valley providing an inviting locally-owned and operated family business serving the famous pan dulce and various imported Mexican products.

Motivated by the prospect of opening up his own taqueria and small grocery store, Orlando asked his parents for their support and without hesitation they jumped right in to help materialize this life-long small business dream of his and help with the transition to continue this downtown Hispanic store legacy.

In April 2008, Orlando transitioned out of Burlington’s Cazador as a waiter/bartender/cook to open Tacos El Antojito bringing his cooking skills and preparing homemade dishes from scratch while continuing to carry every line of Mexican product previously offered by La Victoria, continuing La Panaderia, and expanding various product lines. Opening the small taqueria restaurant in the front of the store provides Mexican foodies prime view of downtown while receiving unwavering personal attentiveness.

As you would expect Tacos El Antojito continues to be owner-operated carrying on the lasting legacy that Sra. Alicia maintained for years–providing a place locals could enjoy an affordable warm Mexican meal, stock up on Mexican antojitos, and relax with the beverage of choice in historic beautiful downtown Burlington, Washington where generations have enjoyed for years.

Tacos El Antojito carries a huge selection of Mexican beer, pop (soda), meats and cheeses, dry chile peppers, tamale leaves, leather huaraches, pan dulce, soccer jerseys and and cowboy shirts available as well as everything you would need for your kitchen spice cabinet for weekend cooking. See more photos over on Foursquare.

In early 2014, Tacos El Antojito opened its first lonchera (taco truck) for everyone on the go. Now you can shop more and get your tacos too.

Enjoy.
